Glebe Physio Telehealth Service

For patients that prefer to access their physiotherapy remotely from the home, Glebe Physio provides an online Telehealth service for both Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology consultations.

What type of treatments are available through Telehealth?

Physiotherapy: All types of injuries and pain conditions can benefit from a Telehealth consultation with a physiotherapist. Research has shown that even without the hands-on treatment, most patients can still receive significant benefit from discussing their problem with a physiotherapist and commencing an appropriate home exercise program.

Exercise Physiology: An exercise physiologist prescribes exercise programs for people with health conditions or chronic musculoskeletal conditions. An exercise physiology consultation can be just as effective via Telehealth. We can prescribe you a home-based program and send you out any equipment you may require such as weights or thera-band (exercise elastics).

How does Telehealth work?

You can book an online consultation through our Online Bookings page, or you can give us a call on (02) 9168 5992 to set up an appointment.

Once you have an appointment, we will send you an e-mail explaining what to expect and how to set yourself up for the Telehealth consultation. The e-mail will also contain a link to open the video chat software, which will activate at your scheduled appointment time.

During the consultation we will discuss your condition and set-up an appropriate management plan. This will usually include specific evidence-based exercises, which we will send to you via e-mail including videos and text description.

If you require any equipment such as weights, thera-band or braces we can send these out to you.

How much does it cost?

Physiotherapy Telehealth Service*:
Initial Consultation (60min) $79
Follow-up Consultation (45min) $68

Exercise Physiology Telehealth Service*:
Initial Consultation (60min) $79
Follow-up Consultation (45min) $68

Glebe Physio will accept credit card payments over the phone, which is payable at the start of the Telehealth consultation.

*For patients with either a Health Care Concession Card or a Pensioner Concession card, we can bulk-bill Telehealth consults with an EPC plan, which you may be able to obtain from your GP.

Can I receive a rebate from my health fund or from Medicare?

As of the 14th April 2020, most health funds will offer rebates to members with appropriate extras cover. Currently HICAPS does not have remote capabilities, so you will be provided with a receipt to claim directly through your insurer.
